Women’s Empowerment Group & Fitness Challenge

Empowerment is defined as “the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights.”

Not that the participants in our Women’s Empowerment Group were ever really wallflowers, but thanks to these regular gatherings they are learning to channel their strengths in more meaningful and productive ways.

They are learning to voice their opinions without being argumentative, learning how better to deal with the day-to-day challenges they all face and gaining confidence and strength in the knowledge that there is nothing they can’t do without the support of each other.

Oh yeah. And they’re having fun while they’re doing it.

Way to go everyone. We are super proud of you.

    Fitness into Action

    Fitness at FIL

We are constantly striving to make FIL as healthy as we can, and we all know that getting up and moving is a huge part of that.

To that end, we’re always launching new initiatives to get everyone active – whether that’s our residents who are gym rats and exercise maniacally, or those who might need a bit more coaxing to move.

We have to send a huge shout out to Resident Support Professionals Jack Minnelli and Rico Thomas who have taken the lead on encouraging our residents to get out there and move.

Thanks guys! We’re already seeing the benefits!
