
Imagine having to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for 60 individuals who can’t agree on anything!
In a nutshell that is what the amazing Healthy Café Team, comprised of Head Chef, Shenika Nichols, Sous-Chef, Francesca Thomas and Prep Cook, John Washington do for the residents of FIL.
Not only do they cook all those meals, they do it in a very healthy manner: never frying foods, never adding salt and using very little sugar.
But wait! There’s more!
On top of all of that they do, they do it all with a smile and an energy that our residents find infectious.
The idea for Healthy Café actually started years ago when our staff cooked meals for the residents in a spare apartment that FIL rented.
However, when the restaurant next door to our administrative offices closed we saw an opportunity to improve the lives of our residents by creating a truly well-rounded meal program.
After months of renovations, our new kitchen was opened and Healthy Café came to life!
With continual evolution and the welcome recommendations and feedback of our residents, FIL’s Healthy Café team continues to innovate, evolve and improve.
