The Questions That Keep You Up at Night
Will they be safe? Will they have friends? Will they feel at home and be seen for who they are? Since 1985, FIL has walked beside families who carry both pride and worry for the future of a loved one.
Residents live in their own apartments at Cypress Shores, close to shops, restaurants, parks and cultural activities. Gentle coaching and support are there whenever they are needed, and step back when they are not.
The Hard Questions, Answered
Will they be safe?
Individual safety and dignity are FIL’s priorities, but residents will be working and living in the community. FIL is an integrated community-based program, and while we do have staff who live on site, we do not offer 24-hour supervision.
Three FIL team members live on site, and 24/7 on-call support is available. Our residents are allowed to make decisions that affect all aspects of their lives, all of which creates a level of risk inherent to this philosophy and approach.
What about health needs?
Mild to moderate health needs can be coordinated through our on-site Med Room and pharmacy partner. FIL is not appropriate for individuals who have serious medical conditions that require daily or weekly monitoring or intervention.
How do we stay involved?
Families are active partners, from the first intake conversation on. You are invited to goal-setting meetings, care conferences and regular check-ins by phone, email or Zoom, and welcome on campus for visits, open houses and seasonal celebrations. A designated contact on the care team keeps you updated on progress, upcoming activities and ways to participate.

What does it cost?
Please note that FIL is private pay only. We do not accept insurance, Medicaid, etc. See Our Fees
Try It First, Then Plan Together
A trial stay
The prospective resident spends one or two nights in an apartment at Cypress Shores, joining the meals, activities and programs. Afterward the resident, family and FIL talk about how it went.
A decision together
FIL, the prospective resident and the family meet, typically by Zoom, to decide whether FIL is a fit.
Transition meetings
A series of meetings ensures success from day one. They can include an admissions meeting, a meet and greet with the resident’s RSP, a meeting with FIL’s Employment Specialist, and a financial meeting, typically with the family.
Move-in day
Staff help every step of the way.
