Independent Living Leadership Training

Empowerment and self-advocacy are traits we assist FIL’s residents to develop every day.

That is why we are very proud that 4 of FIL’s residents were chosen to participate in a ten-month learning opportunity through the Center for Independent Living of Broward. The four residents representing FIL will be Michael B, Tommy F, Sue M and Billie S.

What is Leadership CILB? It is a special leadership opportunity for individuals with disabilities.

The program develops individuals’ advocacy abilities while also fostering a networking of disability advocates in the greater community.

FIL’s individuals will meet monthly with mentors and peers to develop their leadership ability, network with community leaders and learn how to serve as disability advocates.

The ten-month leadership program exposes participants to the skills necessary for strong leadership and advocacy.

During the program year, participants also work together on a community project designed to put their leadership into practice.

The program culminates with a Graduation Reception where class participants network with Leadership CILB alumni.

Program graduates are afforded special networking and educational opportunities. Congratulations to our participants!
