Employment Services
Everyone has Both the Ability and the Right to Work
Work looks different for everyone. For some, it is a full-time job. For others, it may be a few hours a week or a meaningful volunteer role that gives back to the community. At FIL, we value every path equally. If you have never worked before but want to try, we will help you take the first step.
Working alongside our Employment Specialist, residents build practical, real-world skills such as:
- Dressing for success
- Résumé writing
- Interview preparation
- Completing job applications (paper and online)
- Job exploration and matching interests to roles
- Job coaching and on-the-job support
Whether the goal is competitive employment, a part-time schedule, or specialized volunteering, we tailor the plan to each person’s strengths, interests, and pace.

All employment and volunteer roles take place in integrated, inclusive community settings, such as:
- Restaurants and cafés
- Car washes and service centers
- Fulfillment and distribution centers
- Animal shelters and pet care organizations
- Grocery stores and retail shops
- Community nonprofits and civic organizations
Placements are matched to each person’s interests, skills, and readiness, with on-site coaching available as needed.
