Activities

Live, laugh, love… then laugh some more!

The Foundation for Independent Living is a place for growth and lifelong fun. Our Programming Team builds a lively calendar that blends weekly adventures with special seasonal trips, so residents have countless ways to connect, explore, and enjoy. Typical activities include special attractions and amusement parks, nature excursions and beach days, FIL-sponsored events, on-campus movie and game nights, concerts and festivals, spectator sports, theater and museum visits, and a variety of outdoor activities across Coconut Creek and greater South Florida.

Social skill development happens both formally and informally. Residents participate in small-group social skills sessions and resident meetings, then practice what they learn during evening and weekend activities. Along the way, they build real-world abilities such as planning and budgeting for outings, communication and teamwork, community navigation and travel training, leadership, and self-advocacy.

The result is a supportive, staff-guided environment where friendships grow, confidence builds, and having fun is part of everyday life.
