Mind and body wellness is a cornerstone of life at FIL. We bring together our professionally staffed Med Room, an on-site Fitness Center and an optional Healthy Café à la carte meal plan, and we partner with trusted community providers so your loved one’s health stays a top priority.
Our Med Room team coordinates medication management, wellness checks and medical appointments. Through our partner Parkshore, medications are safely packaged and delivered to FIL for added accuracy and convenience.
If your loved one already has providers in South Florida, we will help maintain those relationships. New to the area? We can share a vetted list of primary care physicians, specialists, and therapists to choose from. In either case, our team assists with scheduling, reminders and transportation to appointments when available, and we stay in close communication with families about care plans and progress.

Fitness is tailored to each person. Residents can join adaptive classes, small-group workouts and one-on-one coaching that supports strength, mobility and overall well-being.
Nutrition support is available through the Healthy Café, with flexible choices that fit individual preferences and routines.
At FIL, health and wellness are coordinated with dignity, privacy and consistent support—so residents can feel their best and live as independently as possible.
Fitness is a Priority
At FIL, mind and body wellness are part of everyday life. Thanks to generous donor support, the James I. Coddington Fitness Center opened in 2021 and now anchors our health and wellness program for adults with diverse abilities. Our Fitness Center includes free weights, strength machines, treadmills, and stationary bikes, with guidance from certified trainers and trusted community partners. We create individualized, adaptive plans through one-on-one coaching and small-group classes so every resident can progress safely and confidently. Wellness goes beyond the gym. Residents practice yoga, meditation, and mindful breathing to build focus and reduce stress. Nutrition support is available through our Healthy Café with an à la carte meal plan that complements personal wellness goals.
Activity continues outdoors with mindfulness walks, bike rides, nature hikes, recreational games, and the occasional 5K walk or run. Every activity is tailored to each person’s fitness level, and our Med Room team coordinates care as needed to support a healthy, active lifestyle.
Good Exercise Calls for Good Nutrition
After an active day, Healthy Café has you covered. Our optional, à la carte meal plan offers fresh, chef-prepared meals seven days a week, designed to support energy, recovery, and overall wellness. We focus on balanced, flavorful food: grilled or baked entrées, limited added sodium and sugar, and plenty of lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
Dietary needs? We accommodate many preferences and restrictions, including gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher. Healthy Café is fully optional, so residents can choose what works best for them.
